Inspiring Charlbury to tackle climate change, starting locally

Sustainable Charlbury is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation that helps the community take action on climate change.

The group focuses on two main themes. Plastic Smart Charlbury is an interactive campaign to help residents use less plastic. Lower Energy Buildings helps residents and local businesses assess and improve the energy efficiency of their homes and premises. The group is also part of Cosy Homes Oxfordshire, helping more people retrofit their homes.

Sustainable Charlbury works with Southill Community Energy to choose local environmental projects for grants, funded by surplus from the nearby Southill Solar farm.

Charlbury Town Council declared a climate emergency in 2020. Sustainable Charlbury plays a key part in bringing the community together behind a shared goal of a carbon-neutral town by 2040.
