Sustainable Charlbury

Sustainable Charlbury is now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation that aims to inspire and empower the community to address the big climate change challenges by starting at a local scale with a focus on two main themes. “Plastic Smart Charlbury” is an interactive campaign to help residents reduce their plastic use and “Lower Energy Buildings” aims to support residents and local businesses to assess and increase the energy efficiency of their homes and premises. They are part of the Cosy Homes Oxfordshire pilot programme that aims to increase the roll out of retrofitting homes to improve their energy performance and efficiency.

The group work in partnership with Southill Community Energy by selecting community environmental projects for grant funding, made possible from the surplus income generated from nearby Southill Solar farm.

Charlbury Town Council declared a climate emergency in 2020 and Sustainable Charlbury play a vital role in uniting the community to visualise and take action towards a carbon neutral town by 2040.
