Henley Climate Emergency Working Group

Councillors and residents working together to cut Henley’s carbon footprint

Henley Town Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and set up the group to find practical ways to reduce the town’s carbon footprint.

The group has played a key part in rolling out Solar Streets, which lets whole streets install solar panels at a discounted rate. It works closely with Greener Henley, a fellow Low Carbon Hub community group, on the project.

They are also working to retrofit existing homes, set low carbon standards for new buildings, and fund energy efficiency grants for schools following energy audits.

Longer-term plans include planting 1,000 trees a year for ten years and building electric vehicle charging across key streets in the town.
