Henley Climate Emergency Working Group

Henley Town Council declared a Climate Emergency in early 2019 and as a result a group of Councillors and local residents was set up to find ways of working together to reduce Henley’s carbon footprint. They have been instrumental in rolling out the Solar Streets project to enable entire streets to install solar panels at a discounted rate. They work closely with fellow LCH community group, Greener Henley, on the project.

They are working to retrofit existing homes using the Cosy Homes Oxfordshire scheme and to set low carbon standards for new buildings. They also fund energy efficiency grants to schools carrying out recommendations following an energy audit.

The group aims to plant 1000 trees a year for the next ten years and to create an electric vehicle charging infrastructure by installing EV charging points on key streets.
