Howzat?! Our new partnership with oxfordshire cricket

Earlier this year we launched (probably) the best opening partnership since Cook and Strauss with our friends at Oxfordshire Cricket.
If you’ve watched Oxon at all this season, then you might have noticed a new logo adorning the kit (proudly pointed out in the pics below!). Whilst low-carbon energy and cricket might not immediately seem like an obvious fit, there’s actually lots of reasons we wanted to get involved with the sport locally.
What we’re offering cricket clubs
Many local cricket clubs are already being hit for six by climate change, with extreme weather meaning practically unplayable wickets this summer and energy bills going through the roof. We can help clubs in Oxfordshire with free energy assessments delivered through our Energy Solutions Oxfordshire programme, and the opportunity to apply for free solar panels for available rooftops.
This is all made possible at no cost to the clubs thanks to surpluses from our renewable energy portfolio.
We don’t like cricket, we love it
Cricket at any level is all about community – giving local people the opportunity to play and enjoy sport, stay active and meet new people. Cricket clubs are also often crucial hubs in both urban and rural areas, where there might not be other infrastructure to host people.
Throughout this year, we have already carried out energy assessments at a number of clubs, where we’ve suggested 7-10 clear, low-cost fixes. Many of these can be ‘paid back’ in a short period of time, future-proofing buildings and cricket for generations to come.
We are delighted to welcome Low Carbon Hub on board as our latest primary partner. This partnership represents an exciting opportunity to establish environmentally friendly practices across cricket in Oxfordshire, a key target outlined in our latest strategy and aligned with the ECB’s Sustainability Plan.
