Why community solar?

Community-owned solar keeps the value created on your land working for Oxfordshire. Instead of profit going to an outside developer, 100% of our surplus supports local initiatives including energy efficiency programmes for homes, schools and businesses and other community-led projects.

Hosting a community-owned scheme means your land delivers something positive for your community as well as for your business.

Ground mount or rooftop? We need both.

Both ground-mounted and rooftop solar have essential roles to play in building a resilient, low-carbon energy future.

Ground-mount solar:

  • Delivers the large-scale renewable generation we need
  • Can repurpose low-grade or underutilised land
  • Offers opportunities to enhance local biodiversity
  • Provides stable, long-term community benefit when developed through community ownership

See our blog post for more on an analysis between the two approaches.

How can I get more involved in community energy?

Community energy relies on people getting involved. You can invest in our Community Energy Fund as an individual or organisation to support community-owned renewable energy projects. The Fund typically targets a 5% return on investment. See here for information on our latest share offers.
