What’s happening at ray valley solar park?

Earlier this year you helped us to raise over £970,000 towards the UK’s first community-owned, co-located battery. Here’s how we’re getting on 👇

Ray Valley Solar Park is our first ever ground mount solar project. Since it was connected to the grid in 2022, it has increased our generation by five times, meaning much more community benefit for local people and projects. Battery storage is the next step in the project’s journey, allowing us to store energy when the sun doesn’t shine, or when we’re generating so much energy the grid can’t take it.

Since you helped us to raise a whopping ~£970,000 in the spring and summer of 2026, we’ve got straight to work on installing the battery system. As of early September, the ground area has been surveyed and dug out, the top sheet, re-bar and concrete has been put down, and all of the civils work has been completed.

This hard work means that the site is nearly ready for the battery to be delivered, which is scheduled for late September. We’re expecting the battery to be connected to the grid later this year – just in time for the winter period where energy storage becomes even more important.
