Heat Clanfield
Heat Clanfield Limited is a community project based in the village of Clanfield, West Oxfordshire, giving households, local businesses and organisations the opportunity to choose affordable, low-carbon heating and hot water.
It was set up by a group of volunteers and long standing Clanfield residents, to give households, local businesses and organisations the opportunity to choose affordable low carbon and renewable energy options for heating and hot water.

Heat Clanfield grew out of One Planet Clanfield, an existing local low carbon group that inspired its founding members to develop dedicated community energy projects in the parish. They became a separate legal entity in 2024, forming a Community Benefit Society to best serve the broader interests of the community.
They received a Community Energy Fund grant from the Greater South East Net Zero Hub to carry out a Phase One Feasibility Study into renewable heating technologies, grid connection & battery storage facilities.
The support of Low Carbon Hub has had a lot to do with Heat Clanfield’s successful progress so far. They are a wonderful group of kind, intelligent, committed people who have a clear vision for a clean, fairer energy system. Their expertise, guidance, and patience helped us through thorny issues like how best to incorporate, and how best to implement home and business energy use reduction programmes. What’s more, Low Carbon Hub events have been a great way to learn from experts and other community groups.
Above all, Low Carbon Hub’s moral support and encouragement gives Heat Clanfield a massive energy boost. I recommend it.

Having commissioned low carbon technology consultants, Scene Connect, to advise on the most suitable and affordable solutions for Clanfield, they are currently consulting with the community on potential options and ideas:
- Ground-mount solar arrays on land in the village
- A rooftop solar array on the primary school and nursery
- A home energy decarbonisation campaign to increase energy efficiency and heat pump take-up
- A home energy assessment scheme offering guidance on grant funding and energy efficiency measures from trained volunteers and experts
- A thermal imaging service to help residents identify where their homes are losing heat
They have also attended Low Carbon Hub’s thermal imaging training sessions and carried out a thermal imaging campaign in the area.
