Goring & Streatley Sustainability Group

Working to identify, implement and integrate sustainability projects into the community

The Goring and Streatley Sustainability Group (GSSG) is based in two villages on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire border. It’s volunteer-led and not-for-profit, with strong support from the local community and businesses.

Past projects include opening new allotments and forming a local allotment society, organising food festivals, and running regular Green Drinks events, where people meet to talk about all things sustainable. The group’s headline project was an ambitious hydropower scheme on Goring Weir, which aimed to install three Archimedes screws on the River Thames to generate clean electricity for the area.

GSSG now wants to reinvigorate the group. It would like to hear from anyone who wants to get involved or has ideas for future projects.
