Based in the villages of Goring and Streatley on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire boundary, the group is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation with strong support from the local community and surrounding businesses.

Past projects include opening new allotments and forming a local allotment society, organising food festivals, and running regular Green Drinks events – bringing people together to discuss all things sustainable and environmental. The group’s headline project has been an ambitious hydropower scheme on Goring Weir, which aimed to install three Archimedes screws on the River Thames to generate clean electricity for the local area.

GSSG is now looking to reinvigorate the group – and is keen to hear from anyone who would like to get involved or has ideas for future projects.
