Go Green Hanborough

Starting with four key members but aiming to engage widely, the group works with households, community organisations and businesses to encourage energy reduction and a switch to renewable sources.

Their inaugural event in March 2025 – a stall outside Hanborough Co-op – generated over 30 conversations with local people about reducing energy demand and improving home energy efficiency. Working closely with Green TEA and Freeland Energy Group, they also played an active part in the Big Home Energy Day at Eynsham Village Hall and took part in a thermal imaging training workshop for CAPZero residents.

Future plans include working with Hanborough Primary School on energy demand reduction, setting up a thermal imaging campaign to help households identify where their home is losing heat, and spreading the word about energy efficiency solutions through regular community events.

Go Green Hanborough’s purpose is to encourage residents, community organisations and local businesses to consider the impact that the transition to a low carbon economy will have and what options are available to help them prepare for the future.

Using a variety of methods such as stalls at community events, schools presentations and leaflets detailing the experiences of local residents who have invested in emerging technologies, the group will attempt to dispel myths and rumours and serve as a conduit to larger events where experts can provide information and advice.
