First and Last Mile

Community transport for villages in and around Eynsham

First and Last Mile formed to reconnect West Oxfordshire villages left isolated by the loss of public transport. It runs a safe, accessible and affordable service for people who can’t, or would rather not, travel by car or taxi.

There are currently two routes, the 411 and 418, between Long Hanborough and Standlake. The group is volunteer-led and not-for-profit. Its buses work alongside public transport rather than competing with it. They act as a feeder service to other transport, offering a cleaner, cheaper way to get from village to village.

The group also runs the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS). It’s a nationally recognised standard for assessing and training drivers, so they have the skills and knowledge for safe, legal and comfortable journeys. The course is open to all drivers: professional, paid or volunteer.

It’s my lifeline. without the service I would be completely isolated, unless. I pay for expensive taxis. An absolute godsend
