Neil Lawson

Non-Exec Director, The Low Carbon Hub IPS Limited

Neil Lawson is a renewable heat specialist, engineer and entrepreneur with over 35 years’ experience delivering innovative low-carbon energy projects in the UK and internationally.

He is the Founder and Managing Director of GeoEnergy Design Ltd, one of the UK’s most experienced heat pump design teams, having helped design over 500MW of operational heat pump capacity across the country. His work has supported NHS trusts, universities, councils, schools and the private sector to decarbonise heating and cooling.

Neil has been closely connected to Low Carbon Hub for many years. He was a founding director of Sandford Hydro CIC, playing a key voluntary role in developing what became the largest hydro scheme on the Thames before its handover to Low Carbon Hub for construction and community ownership.

He has also pioneered low-carbon farming using waste heat from sewage in a world-first project now supplying utility-scale heat networks.

Neil’s particular interest lies in the ethical electrification of heating and cooling. His commitment to renewable energy began in 2003 whilst living in Cape Town, where he witnessed first-hand the air quality impacts of fossil fuel combustion. Since then, he has focused his career on accelerating the transition to clean heat and transport.
