Sustainable Woodstock
Bringing Woodstock together to cut its carbon footprint

Sustainable Woodstock is a low carbon community group. It focuses on saving energy, reducing waste, recycling, biodiversity and sustainable economics. It is also exploring a smart local energy system that would link local renewables, electric vehicles and battery storage.

Making local homes and buildings more energy efficient is a big focus. The group surveyed every home in the area, and offered a free thermal imaging service with an explanation of the findings and recommendations.
It also worked with Sustainable Kirtlington and Low Carbon Oxford North on a group buying scheme for solar panels on homes, community buildings and businesses.
Other projects include regular swap shops, a Plastic Free Woodstock campaign and the sale of over 1,000 locally made jute bags to cut single-use plastic. The group also created Woodstock’s first community woodland, which local primary schools now use as a nature reserve.
