Take action on energy at your school
Schools across Oxfordshire are taking real action on climate change – cutting energy bills, installing solar panels and inspiring the next generation of climate champions. We’d love to help your school do the same.

Become a solar school
Did you know your school roof could be a clean energy power station? We can help you find out whether your school is suitable for solar panels – and support you through the whole process if it is.

We offer a free, no-obligation rooftop survey to assess your school’s potential for solar PV. If your buildings are suitable, we install and manage the panels on your behalf.
We sell the electricity generated back to your school at a discounted rate, saving you money on energy bills. Any surplus is sold to the grid, with 100% going into community benefit to support further climate action across Oxfordshire.
Cut your school’s energy costs
Energy Solutions Oxfordshire (ESOx) is our energy efficiency programme for Oxfordshire organisations – including schools. Our experts carry out a free, in-person energy assessment (normally worth £1,500) and on average organisations save 19% on their energy bills as a result.
Action on Carbon and Energy in Schools
Over the years, Low Carbon Hub has worked with schools across Oxfordshire through the Action on Carbon and Energy in Schools (ACES) programme – helping them cut carbon emissions, reduce energy bills, and make buildings more comfortable and healthier for staff and students. We’re proud of what those schools have achieved.
This programme is now delivered by Oxfordshire County Council. Schools looking for energy efficiency support can visit schools.oxfordshire.gov.uk or email aces@caesl.co.uk.
Join the Let’s Go Zero campaign
We also recommend the Let’s Go Zero campaign. Their Climate Action Advisors are a network of free, independent experts who can help your school develop a Climate Action Plan covering energy, water, waste, transport, food, nature, curriculum and more – meeting the DfE expectation that all schools have a sustainability lead and plan in place.
