Depending on how you interact with us we may collect: 

• name and contact details (email, phone, address) 
• payment and bank details (for share purchases, interest payments) 
• communications (emails, helpdesk notes) 
• information you provide for projects (e.g. People’s Power Station data) 
• website usage and cookie data (non-identifying analytics and email open pixels) 

4. Why we use your data (what we use it for) 

We use personal data to: 

• provide and manage investments, services and products (e.g. share management, billing) 
• run projects, trials and funded programmes and meet reporting requirements 
• send newsletters and event information (if you opt in) 
• improve our services and carry out lawful administrative tasks (accounting, fraud prevention, legal obligations) 

5. Our lawful bases for processing 

We use the lawful bases set out in UK GDPR, including: 

• Contract / performance: where processing is needed to manage your investment or a contract with you. 
• Legal obligation: where we must keep records to comply with law (for example HMRC). 
• Consent: for marketing and newsletters (you can withdraw at any time). 
• Legitimate interests: for day-to-day admin, security, and improving services, where these do not override your rights. 

6. Who we share data with 

We sometimes share personal data with trusted service providers who process information on our behalf. These include mailing platforms, cloud storage providers, IT systems, survey and form tools, customer relationship management systems, and share administration platforms. Examples include Microsoft 365/SharePoint, Mailchimp, Typeform and CiviCRM. 

We may also share information with project partners where it is necessary to deliver a programme or meet a funder’s reporting requirements. 

We do not sell your data. All our suppliers are required to protect your information and use it only according to our instructions. If any service stores or processes data outside the UK, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. 

7. How long we keep your data 

• We keep consent records for up to 6 years before we check they are still valid. 
• Where we must keep records for legal reasons (for example tax / HMRC) we will retain those records for the required statutory period (for example, typically 7 years for HMRC). 
• If you ask us to delete data we will do so unless we must keep it for legal or contractual reasons. 

8. Your rights 

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: 

• access your personal data; 
• correct inaccurate information; 
• ask us to delete data (subject to legal/contractual retention); 
• restrict or object to some uses of your data; 
• withdraw consent where we rely on it; 
• request a copy of some personal data in a machine-readable format.

9. Security 

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information and work with trusted cloud and service providers. If a provider changes we will check their security and update this statement where needed. 

10. Cookies and tracking 

We use cookies and other small tracking tools to understand how the website is used and to improve it. Most analytics data is anonymous. If you subscribe to email communications we may use pixels to measure delivery and opens. You can control cookies in your browser and unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message.

We will update this statement from time to time. The date at the top shows when this page was last reviewed.
