First and last mile

First and Last Mile formed to reconnect communities left isolated by the loss of public transport services between a number of West Oxfordshire villages, providing safe, accessible and cost-effective transport between Long Hanborough and Standlake.

First and Last Mile provides a community transport service connecting the villages in and around Eynsham for those who cannot – or prefer not to – travel by private car or taxi. They currently operate two routes, the 411 and 418, running through villages in West Oxfordshire.

A volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation, First and Last Mile’s services complement existing public transport rather than competing with them. Their bus routes act as a feeder service to other transport options, offering a cleaner, cheaper way to travel from village to village.

The group also provides a Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme – a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of drivers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide safe, legal and comfortable journeys. The course is open to all drivers, whether professional, paid or volunteer.

It’s my lifeline. without the service I would be completely isolated, unless. I pay for expensive taxis. An absolute godsend
