The Low Carbon Hub is now embarking upon a new phase of its journey, working with several partners, small and large, including academia, local authorities, central government and commercial businesses, to demonstrate in practice how to make that goal a reality.
We are a small team of very passionate, flexible, open minded and committed individuals and we are looking for like-minded people to join us. Like-minded does not mean identical - we are already quite diverse and we would like more diversity in our team.
We do need some specific skills, but more than that, we are looking for individuals who are open to exploring and developing new ways of doing things, who are proactive and driven to achieve change, whose motivation is the overall wellbeing of our communities and our planet.
The Low Carbon Hub has secured funding for this new phase of innovation and you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and busy team. We also have a clear strategy – but we know all too well that we must be prepared to adapt or change direction if we realise we got it wrong and as we learn new things. Our ethos and clear goal provide the stability for us to work in this environment marked by rapid change.
Business Development Director – the role:
We aim to develop projects that combine mostly existing technologies into new products and services and demonstrate how they will work when plugged into a smart electricity network. This is about collaborating with internal and external teams to create products and services that meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders. Individual projects might range in value from tens of thousands to a few million pounds.
The challenge is to identify and further develop potential new business models for projects, demonstrate how they can be financially viable and get them delivered on time, on budget and to the required performance specifications. This role needs a leader working strategically at Board level and with external stakeholders to identify potential new smart energy business models and leading a development team working with external contractors to deliver projects to time, cost and specification. This is an absolutely key role in our growing organisation, needing someone able to think innovatively and who is driven by the desire to turn these ideas into a very practical reality.
We expect the new Business Development Director to have a demonstrable track record of successful business development and project management experience, ideally at Board level, and with a good understanding and ideally experience of raising finance into new projects.
This role reports to the CEO and will have direct support from and line manage a Development Manager and Project Manager.
