Our School Services

  • We identify the opportunities for your school

We assess the likely installed capacity of a solar installation on your rooftop and calculate the potential CO2 and electricity savings for your school.

We arrange surveys and make applications for grid connections and planning.

We draw up a legal agreement through which you lease us your roof space.

We do all of this at no cost to your school.

  • We fund and manage the project

If the project goes ahead, we don't ask the school for money. We fully fund the installation by creating an investment opportunity; a Low Carbon Hub Share Offer.

We are able to sell the electricity the panels generate to the school at a discount, saving them money on their bills. We sell any surplus clean energy to the grid.

The revenue the panels generate pays for the solar installation and maintenance, and for investor returns.

Our solar schools therefore get solar panels at no cost to themselves, as well as smaller electricity bills, enabling them to focus resources on educational priorities.

We reinvest 100% of our own surplus revenue into our Community Benefit Fund.

We know that schools are extremely busy, so we maintain and project manage the installation from start to finish over the full 20-year period.

  • We deliver a project that inspires your school community

Despite the financial savings requiring no outlay, our schools have been primarily motivated by environmental and educational impacts the project offers, as well as the ethos of our not-for-profit model.

With surplus from our projects fed back into local fuel poverty and energy-saving projects, partnering with us offers schools the opportunity to give back to their communities.

  • We are working with Ashden to help schools save money on their electricity bills and help the environment

Are you a school that wants to help the environment and save money on your energy bills?

Sign up to take part in LESS CO2 - a highly effective programme that has helped over 250 schools save money by becoming more energy efficient.

LESS CO2 is a free energy reduction programme, run by Ashden, available to any UK school, to help them become more energy efficient. Through four half day workshops spread through the year, peer mentoring, expert advice and free resources, staff are empowered and equipped to make changes and improvements to their school to reduce their energy usage, save money on bills and lower their CO2 emissions.

On average, schools that participate save approximately £2,600 and 10 tonnes of carbon in the first year.

The Low Carbon Hub were winners of the 2016 Ashden Award for Sustainable Communities and we are thrilled to be working with them to bring this programme to schools in Oxfordshire.

The LESS CO2 sustainable schools programme is a free energy efficiency programme available to any UK school, regardless if you are council run, an academy or independent.

We are looking for 10-15 schools to sign up for the first programme, which will be starting in September 2018. Registering your interest is really simple, just go to: http://www.lessco2.org.uk/
