We’re working hard to create a decentralised renewables-based energy system for Oxfordshire that delivers benefits for local communities.

We are just at the start of our journey and want to achieve so much more, but we're proud of the progress we’ve made so far.

How are we doing?

METRIC 1: PLANET

We want to protect our warming planet by creating renewable energy projects and reducing energy demand. Much of our work so far has focused on powering up renewable energy generation in Oxfordshire, on schools, businesses and community assets.

EXPLORE OUR IMPACTS

Explore the People’s Power Station -- with live generation feeds from our community energy installations in Oxfordshire -- to see the contribution our planet-friendly projects are making. (Tip: Use the Search Filter and type Low Carbon Hub in the 'ownership' field.)

WORK WITH US

Host a Low Carbon Hub renewables project, get help to develop your own community energy project, or develop an innovation pilot with us. Find out about our services for schools, businesses, community groups and innovators here >

PLUG IN YOUR PROJECT!

Calling all renewable energy power stations in Oxfordshire -- including households. Let's tell the full story of renewables, together. Enter details about your project and we’ll plug you in to the People's Power Station! >

METRIC 2: PEOPLE

Community energy is a grassroots, people-centred movement for change. The success of Low Carbon Hub is due to the phenomenal support of individuals and organisations. Everyone can play a part in creating the shift to a sustainable energy future.

EXPLORE OUR IMPACTS

The people who support our work include:

  • schools, businesses and communities who host our projects
  • investors who help finance the upfront costs of our renewables projects (whose investments also democratise ownership of energy resources)
  • community groups who share our aims, and
  • the wider of community of people interested in our work, who subscribe to our newsletters.

You are all playing a key role in helping a people-centred renewables-based energy system to emerge. That’s why we keep track of these numbers and aim to grow them.

METRIC 3: PROSPERITY

Our renewable energy projects generate collective wealth through electricity sales and feed-in tariff revenues which we distribute (1) as bank-beating financial returns to the (mostly local) investors who help fund the upfront costs of our renewable energy projects (2) as discounts on electricity to schools and businesses that host our installations, and (3) supporting activities that deliver community benefit and help deliver further carbon cuts across Oxfordshire.

EXPLORE OUR IMPACTS

We report on both the total benefits our portfolio of installations is projected to deliver over its lifetime, as well as actual benefits to date. In the early years we anticipate a greater proportion being distributed as community benefit, with other areas 'catching up' over time.

METRIC 4: PERCEPTION

We have a commitment to develop sustainable energy for community benefit. We aim to be a transparent and trusted partner, and to share knowledge and expertise openly.

We will survey our stakeholders regularly -- host partners, community members, service users and investors -- to see how we are doing, and learn how we can improve.

EXPLORE OUR IMPACTS

Our first stakeholder survey will be launched early in 2017, so please look out for it and be ready to take part to ensure we get a huge sample of respondents!
