Generating community energy
We believe that community action on sustainable energy and carbon reduction is essential if the UK is to achieve energy security in the future and reach its legally binding carbon targets. Oxfordshire communities have been leading the way in setting up and running successful low carbon initiatives. The Low Carbon Hub wants to help other communities in Oxfordshire do the same without reinventing the wheel.
The Low Carbon Hub is by communities, for communities: through the Hub, you can access resources, training and advice from people who are successfully doing what you’re trying to do. Our experienced team of Hub advisors will give you expert advice in their field of community development via their blogs and point you in the direction of trusted resources to help you cut through the information overload and access the right information. We will also provide services and training to help you build the confidence to take practical action in your community on a small or large scale. And, we can help communities that lack the capacity, expertise, or funds, to set up their own renewable energy projects to harness Government incentives and scale up community action on climate change: see our Community Energy Service. Not only that, we will keep you updated on news, and provide information on upcoming events, jobs and funding via our calendar and fortnightly newsletter, The Key.
We would like all communities across Oxfordshire to be involved with, and use, the Hub to start up and develop low carbon projects and work with us to create a People’s Power Station (see the Big Idea…..). Under the Hub umbrella we will create a powerful network of active communities working on climate change with the potential to make a huge impact on reducing carbon emissions across the county.
Let’s work together to make Oxfordshire the leading force in carbon reduction in the UK.
We have worked with the following pathfinder communities in Oxfordshire to create the Low Carbon Hub so that it works best for you:
The Low Carbon Hub has been funded via the DECC Local Carbon Frameworks Programme – working with local government to optimise the local contribution to reducing UK carbon emissions.

The Low Carbon Hub has been developed in collaboration with the following organisations:
